Longing for the days of the lunchbox...

Dukes of Hazard, Barbie, Smurfs, G.I. Joe, E.T, Care Bears... Whatever it was, it was cool. Not to mention the ability to toss in there your PB&J or Bologna sandwich, your Thermos (or juice box that inevitably squashed a rectangular print in said sandwich) a sandwich bag filled with grapes (never the seedless ones because they were more expensive), and a greasy plastic bag of chips, typically 'lays' in the Wallace household. It was just so... easy!

Now granted, you actually had to PACK that lunch, but you never had to worry about the "privacy" of your meal. Friday afternoon, we found out that breastfeeding cramped in a car is not as easy as one may have imagined. Being out on the wind-blown boardwalk was beautiful but not quite boob-meal conducive, lest Sara bares her "goods" to the world. In due time, we'll* get the hang of it... because hey, nothing beats a hot lunch!

FYI, I was a "He-Man" kinda guy... and for Charlotte's sake, I hope there is no more "Hanna Montana". PLEEEASE!

*As if I'm doing the feeding, please don't jump down my throat... and yest, I did refer to them as "goods", so sue me!

  1. Nursing in the car is very common around Laubelan. More this time than the last, there's a lot less planning and a lot more just winging it this time around. I'm becoming more meh about nursing in public anyway, I can't tell you how many older women walk up to me while I'm nursing N and don't even realize what's going on. With or without a nursing cover. People really are clueless.

  2. OH. I had a lunchbox comment too - I know a school near me where the Kindergarten parents were instructed to only send their children to school with lunches that had no reusable items, so that everything could be thrown away at the end of the meal. Because it was all too much work to sort out what needed to go home. This included lunchboxes. I was appalled. Thankfully this isn't the district where the boys will attend school.

And now ends my hostile takeover of your blog.

  3. How incredibly environmentally irresponsible! I am appalled! Not to mention, they have taken all of the fun out of luncheon style!

As for the feeding, I guess we'll have to see how our experiences go. I figured that you would have some insight since you have a good deal of experience with it. Sara ordered some "privacy" gear, so we'll see... Wish us (ok, her) luck!
