It's been awhile but for good reason... Let me share the highlights.
As of the last posting on Tues 3/3, Sara and I were idling at the starting line at 1 cm, no real progress over that previous week. Friends, family and interested spectators continually asked "so, are things moving along?" to which I would reply, "nope, we're still holding steady, The baby is still ridin' high".
Wed. 3/4/09 @3:30 am (~12 hours from Sara's last check-in at the pit), the drag strip starting lights go "Yellow, Yellow, Yellow, Green!" And we peel out of the starting gate with contractions at 3 minutes apart for 1 minute each. After 2 hours, we realize that this is NOT a test run. We give the doctor's office a call and we are instructed to check in at 8am in their office so that they can see how things are progressing at this point.
Our 8:15 check under the hood shows, get this, 6-7cm! (that's 6omm for those keeping pace with the post title or of course 2.36 inches).
At the recommendation of the doctor in the office, it's time for us to get to the hospital... like, now. We hustle back to the car, Sara breaking water just as her but hits the car seat, we both realize that after 9 months, the finish line is clearly in sight.
Pit stop over; rev the engine. Now it was time for me to burn rubber! (Do they make Nitro boosters for the Infiniti G35?)
See the next post for the racing results.
PS. Ok, that was not Zero to 60 in 4.5 Seconds, but you get the point
PPS. Oh, and as crazy as it sounds, the drag-racing clock seen above can actually be purchased at asseenontvguys.com. Who really buys this crap?
Was traveling last week and can't remember if I left a comment on FB or not... Either way -- congrats, pops!
ReplyDeleteUm I know that whole fatherhood thing can be time consuming but we haven't had picture updates on Miss Charlotte... I'm just sayin'.
