Just be sure to send pictures...

I recently sent an e-mail message to my mother inquiring when she is planning on coming up to meet our little one after she is born. Since she lives in DC and does not come up north too often, and she never wants to impose, I figured that I would be sure to extend the welcome invitation for this wonderful event. So about a day later, I get the following back from her:

"I am not sure when I will come up. When would you prefer? My guess is that the first few days after the birth you will have lots of company & may not want another person around that you feel you have to entertain."

A respectable response I guess... for those who may know her or can infer from the brief set-up above, this is a par-for-the-course response.

She then proceeds to write, "If I get pictures, I can wait..." and I think, Who is this woman?; Who does she think I am?; and What year is this???

Now, granted, I had it in my laundry list of things to do 3 years ago to put together a photo album of wedding pictures for her and I never got to it. But I still sent her the pictures!!! COME ON, I'm the type of guy who worked to find internet service while staying in some remote corner of Costa Rica just so that he can send updates from our honeymoon on a regular basis (not to mention putting the photos in an autoplay mantage for her) and she has the audacity to to write "If I get pictures..." Maybe i'm just reading into this too much but, as my Mom would say... "Oh, Please!"

So to be the good son, I will be sure to oblige. Now, all I have to do is make sure I pack my camera... hmmm, now where did I put it...
